Karl Staib - Your Work Happiness Matters

Companies do need to show that they are committed to the employee, so the employee can respond in kind. Most companies don't want to do this because in this day and age they are afraid to fully commit. They are almost resigned to high turnover.

The truly great companies like Starbucks, Google, and Southwest Airlines have all been able to commit to their employees and the employees have committed to them. They did this by giving more than the other companies.

Starbucks - insurance to part-time employees

Google - free t-shirts, doctors and great lunches

Southwest airlines - an environment that is fun and allows a person to just be themselves.

Now everyone know that they are great places to work. I would work at any of these companies.

It's up to the company to make their environment a place of trust and commitment.
